SVG Cleaner

From homepage:

Generally, SVG files produced by vector editors contain a lot of unused elements and attributes that just blow up their size without providing better visible quality.

SVG Cleaner could help you to clean up your SVG files from unnecessary data. It has a lot of options for cleanup and optimization, works in batch mode, provides threaded processing on the multicore processors and basically does two things:

sK1 is an open source vector graphics editor similar to Adobe Illustrator. It supports PDF and CMYK colors.

We are unsure about the current status of the project.

UniConvertor is a universal vector graphics translator. It is a command line tool which uses sK1 object model to convert one format to another.

UniConvetor is used in Inkscape and Scribus projects as external tool for CorelDraw files importing.

From the Dia site:

Dia is a GTK+ based diagram creation program for GNU/Linux, MacOS X, Unix, and Windows, and is released under the GPL license.

If you want to transform ("trace") a bitmap graphic into a vector document, use potrace (which is what Inkscape is doing “in the background”). There is a graphical frontend for potrace called Potracegui.

LibreOffice Draw

LibreOffice Draw is a vector editing program including tools for flowcharts and diagrams. Draw can import graphics in all the commonly-used formats (including BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and WMF). Draw can also export to Flash (.swf) format.

SVG images not ok

We have experience problems when importing SVG images created in LibreOffice Draw into Scribus.

The solution is to import them into Inkscape first, clean them up (if necessary) and save them.

From the Karbon site

Karbon is a vector drawing application with an user interface that is easy to use, highly customizable and extensible. That makes Karbon a great application for users starting to explore the world of vector graphics as well as for artists wanting to create breathtaking vector art.

Whether you want to create clipart, logos, illustrations or photorealistic vector images – look no further, Karbon is the tool for you!

Inkscape is an open source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Adobe Illustrator using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.

It also includes tracing functions.
